To create a striking image showing off Luna Park’s spectacular location.
My goal was to show off the amazing location which is always tricky to do because the iconic entrance can’t be photographed from the front or you see the ugly office buildings of North Sydney. I decided to photograph from the ferris wheel. The sun went down at 5:02 pm and the park’s lights came on at 5 pm so I knew I had a 10 minute window to balance the ambient light with the park’s lights. I shot hand-held relying on my Nikon Z7’s built in image stabilisation. Timing was everything, not just the light but also the ferris wheel randomly stopped and I had to wait until the swaying had stopped but had to act before the ferris wheel resumed turning.
